Nokia Mobile’s naming scheme is clear for China – all notched phones will come under the X-series. Images of the front panel of a Nokia device have been posted online. The panel comes with a similar notch cutout as we saw on the Nokia X5. On a first look, it looks like it is from the Nokia X5, however, we notice that the bezels are slightly thinner and the overall height is slightly longer, certifying that it is not from the Nokia X5.
So, these could be from the rumored Nokia X7 which might be called the Nokia 7.1 Plus in the global markets. The original Nokia 7 was launched in October 2017. The device was never released outside of China, due to whatever reasons. But that doesn’t stop the device from ageing and since it is almost an year since its release, there is a sure need of a successor.
As the device appears to be longer than the 5.8-inch Nokia X5, the next most used display size is around 6.2-inches. A number of flagships use a 6.2-inch display, including the OnePlus 6, Zenfone 5Z and the Samsung S9 Plus. I have tried to put it alongside the Nokia X5 while keeping the aspect ratio same. Here’s the outcome for a rough idea.
The new Nokia 7 series device is rumored to be code-named as “Phoenix” and run on the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 SoC. Its existence was previously confirmed as the device with project code PNX appeared on FIH’s official OTA server. Nokia Phoenix is expected to launch in the month of October 2018.
