HMD Global has recently sent in an application to FCC. The application requests to allow for changes in the TA-1004 & TA-1012 product codes, which we know is Nokia 8. The requested changes are as below:
- Add the Memory type: 6GB+128GB
- LCM 2nd source: JDI panel
- Enable ANT+ feature by software
- Enable WCDMA Band IV by software
HMD Global initially listed the Nokia 8 in ‘Polished Blue’ with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. However, the mention of this storage and memory variant was removed soon after. Now, HMD is probably planning to offer the 128+6 GB memory variant in all of the colors. If you are somebody who isn’t satisfied with 64GB, the 128GB + memory card slot might make for a great deal.
Another requested change is to use LCD panels sourced from JDI in the Nokia 8. HMD or Foxconn might have faced supply shortages with the original supplier, leading them to go with a new supplier. I am not aware of the supplier which originally supplied the displays for Nokia 8.
HMD Global is also going to enable the ANT+ feature via a software update. ANT+ allows users to view sport, fitness and health monitoring data in real-time on the mobile device. With ANT+, the Nokia 8 may attract more to the health conscious audience which wants to keep track of their health goals.
