HMD Global has started rolling out the Oreo builds to Nokia 7 owners. This is a stable release and follows the January security patch update which was delivered a week back. Along with the latest Android Oreo, the update brings several enhancements viz.
- Android Oreo
- Screen recording functionality
- Gestures for navigation
- Notification wake up (Ambient Display) & raise to wake up (Double tap to wake already exists)
- Updated pre-installed apps (Camera, Gallery, File Manager; etc)
- Improved system stability

The Oreo update for Nokia 7 is about 788 MB of download and requires 1581MB of available storage. That’s if you’re running the most recent release. If your Nokia 7 is running an older build of Nougat, then the update could be bigger.
You can start the download by going to Settings > About > Software update. Also, do ensure that you have at least 35% battery else the installation won’t start.
i have the nokia 7 but i have the nougat yet why?
Do you have the Android One variant of the ROM installed?
Since the device is exclusive to China, the global ROM is no longer maintained. You need to switch to China ROM to get regular updates.
How to install the android one ROM. And how to switch to China ROM?
Well, since the bootloader is not unlocked, you need to take help from somebody from China who will remotely flash your phone and install the China ROM. It needs login to the service software.
