Nokia 8 was reported to be available for pre-ordering in Germany via different operators and Amazon. And it is also listed for pre-order on the official Nokia Mobile store for Russia.
Now, HMD Global seems to be on a spree to bring the Nokia 8 quickly to a lot more markets. Nokia’s official store pages are now accepting pre-orders (or even direct orders) for a number of countries. The list includes Germany, Norway, Switzerland & Polsci, besides Russia which was already reported. More attractive is the fact that a release date is not mentioned. Instead, the store is offering (in some countries) express (expedited) shipping for a small premium. So, does it mean that the Nokia 8 will ship immediately if one orders with the express delivery? Or only after an unannounced date is reached? The referring page mentions pre-order only though, so that’s what it most likely is.
The phone is currently only listed in Steel. Other color options might follow soon. Payments are accepted via PayPal as well as Credit cards.
Pricing wise, Nokia Mobile is doing it well by keeping the prices mostly under the estimated average retail price of EUR 599. Here’s a quick look:
Germany: €579 ($680.90) for standard shipping | €10.90 extra for express shipping
Poland: 2,599.00 zł ($715.32) for standard shipping | 49.20 zł extra to avail express shipping
Norway: €579 + €17 for standard shipping | €24.32 extra for express shipping (1-2 days)
Switzerland: €579 + €23 for standard shipping | €18.32 extra for express shipping (1-2 days)
For Norway and Switzerland, the store mentions that 23% Irish VAT is included in the price, probably because the store locale is Ireland. The tax information page speaks something else – “If you are a non-VAT registered person located within the EU or are located within Switzerland, Norway or Iceland, prices will include VAT at the rate applicable in your country.”
However, in the case of Germany, the tax information changes to reflect the 19% value added tax charged by Germany.
